After lots of cleaning and painting the MK11 Interceptor looks a lot better underneath. All the underseal has been removed and the metal cleaned up before 2 coats of POR15 and 2 coats of 3M stonechip have been applied.
This will keep the underside looking good for many years to come and the stonechip will be finished in body colour.
Also since the last blog the 541R has been completed and returned to the customer. Work continues on the Brown MK3 Interceptor with the body soon to be in Primer and the Interior being refurbished.
Welding work is carrying on FF182 and FF133 now has all good metalwork and is having the epoxy primer that was put on 20 years ago removed and recoated with a protective paint whilst the underneath and engine bay are cleaned and painted, then the front and rear suspension rebuilt so it is a good rolling shell before going to the painters to be refinished in its original colour of Stratosphere Blue.
A MK2 Interceptor has arrived and the present owner has had this car for 30 years. The owner usually likes to carry out work himself but has decided that he wants us to make a start on it as he is very busy.
We will clean and protect the underneath of the car and rebuild the steering and front suspension for him, then he will hopefully be able to carry on with the project himself. He already has a rebuilt engine and manual gearbox for the car and the rear end has been modified for independent rear suspension.
FF182 has not made any progress for a while as the customer decided not to continue with the project. Oily Rag Classics have now purchased the car and we are continuing with the restoration.
This car is available to purchase from us as a bespoke restoration project, with the new owner able to decide on the final specification. We will carry on with the restoration in the mean time.
The car has been stripped underneath and in the engine bay and has been painted underneath and a stone chip finish in the engine bay to closely resemble the factory finish. This will be painted black when the body is painted.
The front suspension cage has been refitted with the front diff and the rear springs and axle are also back on the car. It’s great to see some progress with this car after sitting in the corner of the workshop for so long.
The recommissioning works are now complete on the Jensen 541R and the car is running well after a quick tune up.
With a nice sunny day and the Atlantic highway 2 miles from the workshop a test drive was required.
