MK111 Interceptor suspension & MK1 spoiler

This week has seen the completion of the MK111 Interceptor suspension with all parts powdercoated before being new bushes, balljoints and fixings were fitted. They are now all wrapped and stored ready for refitting when the bodyshell is ready.

Whilst I had a MK1 FF spoiler lying around I had a copy made for FF133 as it was missing when the car arrived.

FF133 New bonnet

The bonnet on FF133 was solid but had previous bad repairs and would have caused problems when the body goes to the paintshop, so I decided to get a new skin made and fitted to my good frame. The bonnet is now starting to take shape, its great to see craftsman making something using old skills like the English Wheel.

Engine check

This engine has had lots of recent work and runs very well with good oil pressure. I suspected the timing chain had not been checked so recommended that it was looked at whilst the car was here.

Luckily this will be rectified now averting a large bill if the car had seen continued use not only is there a lot of slack in the chain which could have easily jumped, the cam sprocket is the original and is breaking up. All the remains are in the oil pickup filter and the sump.

MK111 Interceptor Engine & Gearbox Removal

The MK111 Interceptor strip down is now well underway, the interior has been removed and then the car was driven onto the ramp (its final time moving under its own power for a while) where the engine and gearbox were removed. The next task is to strip all remaining components and make another rolling frame so the shell can be transported for shot blasting and epoxy priming.
