MK111 Interceptor suspension & MK1 spoiler

This week has seen the completion of the MK111 Interceptor suspension with all parts powdercoated before being new bushes, balljoints and fixings were fitted. They are now all wrapped and stored ready for refitting when the bodyshell is ready.

Whilst I had a MK1 FF spoiler lying around I had a copy made for FF133 as it was missing when the car arrived.

Engine check

This engine has had lots of recent work and runs very well with good oil pressure. I suspected the timing chain had not been checked so recommended that it was looked at whilst the car was here.

Luckily this will be rectified now averting a large bill if the car had seen continued use not only is there a lot of slack in the chain which could have easily jumped, the cam sprocket is the original and is breaking up. All the remains are in the oil pickup filter and the sump.

MK111 Interceptor Engine & Gearbox Removal

The MK111 Interceptor strip down is now well underway, the interior has been removed and then the car was driven onto the ramp (its final time moving under its own power for a while) where the engine and gearbox were removed. The next task is to strip all remaining components and make another rolling frame so the shell can be transported for shot blasting and epoxy priming.

MK111 Arrives for full restoration

Another car has arrived for a full nut and bolt restoration, its a very nice MK111 in its factory colour of Havana Brown with a Tan interior. This is the perfect car for a restoration with relatively low mileage of 43,000 and maintaining much of its originality.

Unlike my recent projects that arrive either partially or fully stripped, this car came complete and running. It was taken on a road test and drives very well except from the brakes which although work have a lot of pedal travel.

The interior is in good shape and requires some minor repairs and recolouring and should come up just like new.

Really looking forward to making this car beautiful once again.
